Where can this be found in stereo? Someone posted a while back that they have a copy and I know the stereo two track backing track is available. |

Reply with quote | #2 | AFAIK, no legitimate stereo has ever been released because the song was never completed in stereo. I think even the backing track is not complete, it's made from sessions although I'm not totally sure about that. Many mixes have been done on this song, again piecing it together from sessions, including a very nice one by Dean laSorta that I have which runs 3:42.

Reply with quote | #3 | It's been pretty well documented that the multis still exist for the instruments, but the vocals have gone missing. There are a few extractions circulating that are worth a listen, but so far I have not heard anything that hits the mark. Barring some miracle, we will most likely never hear a true stereo remix.

Never say never. While it is true that Capitol will most likely never use it because of several factors, they have in their possesion a 99.8 % accurate to the 45 hit version and excellent sounding sync up of GV. This was done by syncing up all the backing tracks with great accuracy and then remixing the hit mono version back into the mix with excellent results. You can't tell in any way that is was a sync up. And it sounds true to the hit version. This was done by a professional remixer who's name you would recognize. But it is up to Capitol if and when they want to use it. |

Hmmm... a probable suspect for it's 50th anniversary in 2016, bundled with a load of stuff we've already got several times over!
I did hear one "stereo" mix a few years back that was reasonable but had flanging artefacts and I think an extra vocal part that shouldn't had been there.

Reply with quote | #6 | I stand happily corrected! If there is a fairly accurate good sounding stereo mix waiting in the wings, then that's got to be the holy grail of holy grails!

That's probably just about right. The way Capitol does out new Beach Boy stereo like fine wine in shot glasses, all of the original members will be dead by the time the whole catalog finally sees the stereo light of day. I don'tthink they'll hold out forever on a stereo release of this track, but they are waiting for the moment to be juuuuuust right. |
