Three Dog Night Issues New Single
Three Dog Night featuring four original band members, Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, Jimmy Greenspoon,& Michael Allsup have issued their first real single since 1983's It's A Jungle EP.
Rounding out the band are Pat Bautz on drums who replaced original drummer Floyd Sneed some years ago. Also bass player Paul KIngery sings the high tenor replacing both bassist Joe Schermie and the third original vocalist Chuck Negron who has pursued a solo career.
The new songs are available only on Three Dog Nights official pages at Facebook and Myspace
The first song "Heart Of Blues" is an original song written by the band and sung by Cory Wells. Wells sings in a lower key now but still has the bite and grit in his voice and sounds great.
The second number "Prayer For the Children" is a message song done accapella with multiple vocals by Hutton,Wells and Kingery. with Hutton singing the primary lead vocal.Huttons voice hasn't aged quite as well but he doesn't sound bad.
Without Chuck Negron in the vocal blend its not quite Three Dog Night, but after all these years when Cory Wells sings "Heart Of Blues" you want to believe him, and at times you will.
The full album is said to be forthcoming. |

Reply with quote | #2 | Maybe one day THREE Dog Night can make up with Chuck Negron. I think by all accounts he's turned his life around 180 degrees.

It's not Three Dog Night without Chuck, but I'd be willing to give it a listen. It wasn't always Chuck "out front" on the vocals. This is my favorite 70's band. Maybe my favorite band, period. CCR is a very close second. OK...both bands started in the 60's, but the peak of their popularity came in the early 70's. |

From what I recall, the hang-up was money. They didn't want to pay him an amout he thought was fair, and he declined. |
