I have an original 45 of this song. I also have it on my MP3 player. The MP3 is a stereo version. Besides the stereo-mono difference, I noticed the pitch of the 45 seems to be a different than the MP3 (a bit pitched up). Also, the background singers are not as prominent and the bass line seems to end differently as well. Was the stereo version an LP version, or is it some sort of K-Tel style re-record? I have to admit I think I like the 45 sounds better to me in just sheer pressence. |

Reply with quote | #2 | The Stereo version is also original, recorded for the Checker LP. It's not a K-Tel re-record.

Ok. I am guessing the stereo version just reveals more "detail" and makes it seem a bit different. |

Reply with quote | #4 | I have two different stereo mixes of this, one with almost no reverb.

Reply with quote | #5 | The original stereo mix has more reverb. The other stereo mix was done by Steve Hoffman and is on the Vintage Music Vol 9. This mix is dryer sounding and also runs a few seconds longer in the fade out. I like the original stereo mix.

Pretty sure there was a K-tel remake, and it was not especially good. |
